Okay, here's the deal . . .
As you may know, my wife and I have our new house picked out and we'll be closing the deal on our new home very soon. But we still need a little help in the down payment department and we need the help a little sooner than we had originally thought.
For this reason, I have decided to begin the Big Fat Sketch Card Sale a few days early.
I know that some of you have been waiting for and planning to send in your orders on Saturday the 7th and I apologize for this sudden change of plans. But life has a way of throwing curve balls, so hopefully this won't ruffle too many feathers out there. I will do my best to accommodate everyone who wants a card, and will even take extra orders if I need to so that those of you who may not see this announcement right away do not feel as if you were cheated out of ordering one. I'll do my best to make sure that everyone is taken care of in that regard.
That being said, let me run down the details of the sale one more time . . .
If you've been watching this blog, you know that I'm switching to a wide format for my sketch cards. The cards are the same size as other wider trading cards that have been on the market for a while now (2 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches) and each card will be sold with a wide Top Loader plastic holder. They are drawn using Micron pens and Prismacolor markers & pencils.
Here are some samples of new card format:

I am announcing that, starting today and for a limited time, I am opening Big Fat Personal Sketch Card commissions. I have 100 slots to fill (bu may take more orders to accommodate people who may not see this announcement right away). Here's the small print:
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS MAY RESULT IN LOSING A PLACE ON THE LIST!
-The cost per card is $30 (plus $2 for shipping in the Unites States and $5 for International shipping).
-These cards will be cut from bristol board. They are not pre-printed. There will be nothing printed on the backs.
-Each card will be placed inside a wide plastic top loader card holder and shipped in a cardboard mailer.
-The drawings will be full-color.
-I
will draw up to 2 characters per card with some kind of background. I
will not be accepting any requests for vertically formatted cards. The
is the Big Fat Sketch Card Sale, not the Big Tall Sketch Card Sale.
I like the "widescreen" format, so that's what I'll be drawing. I will
also not be accepting any requests for multi-card images. One scene per
card, please.
-There are 100 slots available and you MAY request more than 1 card.
-I will be drawing these cards live on my Ustream webcast
in the order that I receive orders. I will schedule at least 2 days a
week for sketch card work, I will draw 4 or 5 cards per show and will let
people know which cards I will be working on in advance on my website
(the weekly schedule can be found HERE)
so they can watch. I will also
record every show, in case someone misses their card being drawn. I
will be drawing 8 to 10 cards per week, so you must be patient in
waiting for your card. In other words, it may take me until February
or March of 2010 to finish the 100 cards I hope to sell during this
sale. I
thank you in advance for this.
-I will begin drawing cards for this sale on November 10th, 2009.
-I only accept PayPal for payment and payment is required at the time of ordering.
-When ordering and paying, YOU MUST USE THIS E-MAIL ADDRESS: otis@otisframpton.com
-Do NOT send the requests via private message on message boards, deviantART or any other public forum. E-MAIL ONLY.
-Use the subject header Otis Frampton's "Big Fat Sketch Card" Sale in the order request e-mail and the PayPal payment.
-DO
NOT PAY until I have notified you that you are on the list. If anyone
pays before I confirm they will get a card, I will refund the money and
they will not be on the list.
-Please include the following
information in the order request e-mail and the PayPal payment: what
character(s) you want me to draw, what name you want me to use for the
Ustream schedule and your shipping address.
-My sketch card work is
best when I have some story elements to work with, as opposed to
standard pin-up style shots. In other words, if you want me to do my
best work on your commissions, give me a "story moment" to work with as
opposed to just the name of a character.
Thanks in advance and I hope to see the buyers in the Ustream chat room!
-Otis
